    EYE HEALTH



Eyes are vital part of human body and we must care for its health and maintenance for good vision and overall well-being. Few tips for keeping eyes in optimum healthy:-

Regular Eye Exams: -

Even if you don’t have symptoms, visit an optometrist or ophthalmologist regularly to check for any potential eye problems or changes in vision. If you wear glasses or contacts, ensure your prescription is up to date.

Proper Nutrition: -Take balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals, especially those that support eye health like Vitamin A, C, E, and Omega-3 fatty acids can help prevent certain eye conditions, few example are mentioned below.

Ø  Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and collard greens are rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, which protect against cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.

Ø  Carrots, rich in beta-carotene, help support night vision.

Ø  Fish like salmon, mackerel, and tuna are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support eye health and reduce the risk of dry eyes.

Ø  Citrus fruits and berries are high in vitamin C, which helps maintain the health of blood vessels in the eyes.

Ø  Nuts and seeds (especially almonds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds) provide vitamin E to protect eye cells from damage.

Protection:-

i) Wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection to prevent damage from the sun's harmful rays.

ii) Even in cloudy weather, UV rays can still affect your eyes, so it's important to wear sunglasses year-round.

iii) Adjust screen brightness and use blue light filters on devices to reduce strain.

iv) Adjust screen brightness, position your screen so it's about 20-30 inches away from your eyes and 4-5 inches below eye level.

Rest Your Eyes: -

i)To reduce eye strain from screen use, follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and look at something 20 feet away.

 ii) Blinking helps moisten your eyes and prevent dryness and irritation. This is particularly important when  working on a computer or using digital devices.

Hygiene:- Wash your hands before touching your eyes, and avoid rubbing your eyes, which can introduce germs and cause irritation.

Stay Hydrated:- Take ample of water which help and also to prevent dry eyes/ keeps them moist.

Avoid Smoking:- Smoking increases the risk of developing cataracts, macular degeneration, and other eye conditions. Smoke leaving can help to protect eyes

Exercise:-

Regular exercise and medication is essential.
